“No, this is the kind of fasting I want:  Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you.  Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people.  Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless.  Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.”

~ Isaiah 58:6-7

The 30 Hour Famine is about students around the world loving God and fighting hunger.

A group of five students participated in the Fellowship Community Church 30 Hour Famine this past weekend at Newport, Oregon.  When students do the Famine, they are challenged to be part of something bigger than themselves. To take action for God’s kingdom. To help save the lives of hungry kids.  It changes the way they see God’s world.

During this event, our students learned about hunger.  The Famine opened their eyes to the truth about global hunger and helped them learn what God wants all of us to do about it.

Our students learned about raising funds to fight hunger, raising over $700 dollars.  They also went hungry for 30 hours over the weekend.  They participated in several activities, including a popular TRIBE game and learned about community service ideas.

The funds raised by this event are sent to World Vision to change children’s lives around the world.  By participating, there is an opportunity to qualify for an unforgettable Famine Study Tour - a mind-blowing, once-in-a-lifetime chance to travel to meet real kids helped by World Vision.

Here are a few images of the students who participated.

30 Hour Famine 2015 is planned for April. We are already starting to raise money. The girls made and auctioned off some beautiful Valentine Candy Bouquets.

Our next fundraiser will be hosting a St.  Patrick's Day Dinner on March 15th.  Details to come.
